ACTIVITY:

Montessori Hundred Board

MATERIALS: image

The 100 Board – a blank laminated board

A two compartment box with a lid containing plastic chips with all the numbers from 1 – 100, written on them.

A Control Chart with all the numbers filled in.

A table mat.

OBJECTIVES:

To give the child an understanding of numbers and their sequence.

To help the child to memorise his numbers.

CONTROL OF ERROR:

The Control Board.

AGE: 5 – 6 years approx.

  • The child should know from memory where the tile should go and should place it in the correct space.
  • The child works from left to right, top to bottom.
  • The child leaves the answer tiles on the Chart and works with the board for as long as he is able.
  • The child can check his answers on the Control Chart. (NOTE: the child can write the answers on a photocopied version of the 100 Board so that this can ultimately be completed over a number of days and so that the child has a copy of his work.)
  • End the work cycle.
