Montessori Calendar Lesson Activity
MATERIALS: Montessori Helper
A Calendar that shows a day on each page
OBJECTIVES:

To help awaken the child’s sense of time.

To give the child a sense of the cosmic approach.

The child is able to see the succession of days
CONTROL OF ERROR:

The days are torn off.

The child sees the calendar getting “thinner” throughout the year.
AGE: 4 – 6 years approx.

  • The child gets an idea of how many days are left in the year and as he sees the calendar getting thinner and thinner.
  • Some of these calendars have interesting sayings or a quote for the day, which may be relevant to the children.
  • A reading child might even be asked to read the day’s saying.
