Montessori Seguin Board B

Sequin Board B

A floor mat

OBJECTIVES:

To teach the child the symbols from 20 – 90

CONTROL OF ERROR:

The three period lesson.

AGE: 4 – 5 years approx. [DAP isPaidUser=”Y” errMsgTemplate=”LONG”]
PRESENTATION: Presentation 1 

Begin the work cycle.

Ask the child to lay out a floor mat.

Show the child how to open the box and remove the Seguin Board B.

  1. Point to the 10 on the board and ask the child if he remembers what that number is.
  2. The child should respond with, “ten” in which case you continue the lesson.
  3. Point to the twenty and say, “This is twenty, this is how we write twenty”.
  4. Point to the thirty and say, “This is thirty, this is how we write thirty”.[/DAP]
  5. In the SECOND PERIOD repeatedly ask the child to show you the various amounts 10, 20, 30. Do this in sequence initially and eventually out of sequence.
  6. In the THIRD PERIOD, isolate each amount and ask the child (in order) “what number is this?”
  7. Consolidate by asking the child again to tell you the name of all three numbers.
  8. The next time you work with this, do one known and two unknown numbers.
  9. End the work cycle.
